I have always had a knack for languages; I fluently speak Haitian Creole, French, English, and Spanish, and I can get by in German and Slovak. However, I am rusty in these last two because of a lack of practice.
My journey started in Haiti, where I spent my childhood before moving to Paris for higher education. I graduated from Sorbonne Nouvelle University, holding a degree in English and American Literature and History. In 2001, I became a certified secondary school teacher in England after completing the PGCE (Postgraduate Certificate of Education) at the University of Southampton. I have a passion for reading and writing fiction and nonfiction.
My first book was inspired by my experiences as an educator, exploring the complexities of teaching and learning.
I first developed a love for writing during my teenage years, when my stories often took the form of comics, complete with my own drawings.
I used to create stories as I drew, merging words and illustrations.
I remember selling my first comic to a classmate for 30 francs, which was about £3 or $5 at the time. At 13 years old, that made me feel incredibly wealthy.
I went on to sell two more comics, though I admit they didn’t quite match the quality of the first. I had poured a great deal of time into that initial comic, carefully crafting each character with meticulous detail. It wasn’t originally intended for sale; it was something I had created purely for my enjoyment.
Music is my soul’s language. I find myself at home whether I’m playing the piano, grooving on the bass, strumming the guitar, or keeping the beat on the drums.
You might catch me in the studio, producing music or performing live with various bands across England and
Europe, pouring my heart out on stage.
My passion for writing extends to songwriting as well. I have penned over 100 song lyrics to date. Many of these lyrics have found a home in the solo albums I’ve released, while others have been written for other artists.
Additionally, Ihave dozens more waiting for the perfect melody to bring them to life.
In the kitchen, I am quite the magician. Turning everyday meals into culinary delights is one of my favourite pastimes, each dish adding its own melody to the day.
My passion for music spills over into my teaching style, bringing a rhythmic energy to my French and Spanish classes. I also express myself through drawing, a silent yet profound form of communication.
It’s a skill that almost got me held back a year in secondary school, but it’s now a cherished part of who I am.
Above all, being a father is my greatest joy. My two sons light up my world, filling each day with laughter and love. From deep conversations to simple activities like painting our home together, every moment with them strengthens the bond we share. They are the heart and soul of my universe.
